PM Class: Feelin' Kinda Crabby

No, not really. We did, however put together the crab habitats this afternoon. After watching a short video clip about Fiddler Crabs, where they live, how they eat, and live in colonies, we were able to replicate that somewhat inside our classroom. . We also noticed from the video clip that the Fiddler Crabs have a colossal  claw and a normal size claw.  The crabs also eat MUD! (NASTY!!)We were very surprised at that. We can't wait to get our crabs in!

In building our crab habitat, we put the dirt in first. We had to make it like a hill, or slope. One end of the tank had the dirt piled high, and at the bottom of the other end we placed a small container of salt water. We had to build the dirt up around the water bowl enough so that the crab can get into the water. We don't have any real grass for the tank, but Mrs.Brookins gave each group a stalk of artificial grass. We pondered if our crabs would really be able to get into the pool. We'll find out soon enough! Stay tuned!
